If you look for women empowerment ideas and inspiring stories read the BIBLE. Yep, you got it right! Bible.
Ok, let’s come and think together. Put the Bible aside for a moment. When people were pagans they used to worship numerous gods and goddesses. This means that ancient people treated both men and women equally. A goddess was never inferior to a god neither in Roman nor Greek mythology.
Centuries later the Bible exposed many strong women characters who were as equal and important as men. Thus, what happened to these modern Christian societies which are seemingly more civic and democratic than their ancestors?
Perhaps alongside with technological advancements and other achievements, they have turned into robots with no emotions and feelings! Or they might have become the victims of their own groundless tradition and laws. Nobody can answer for sure!
Anyway, let’s have a look at women’s role in the Bible. Each strong and fearless character will prove that feminine courage is a powerful tool.
Women’s Role in the Bible
After Eve ate the forbidden fruit and made Adam do the same it resulted in the sin. And after if I tell you that Bible exalts women you’ll think I’m kidding. But I am not. And there is a good reason to insist on what I say.
Do you remember that everybody carries the stamp of God’s image? If you do, any ideas about the implication? All men and women are created equal! This is what it means.
Of course, the Bible also shares some role distinctions between men and women. They are obvious since the circumstances of creation alone. For example, women’s role in the Bible in childbearing and the nurture of kids is quite unique. Anyway, women themselves also have a particular need for support and protection.
On the other hand, the Bible gives the proper order in the family and assigns hardship duties to the husband. In other words, everyone has his or her role in the family. By performing it properly a family lives in harmony and peace.
Moreover, this distinction marginalizes neither men nor even women. They are treated as equals and deserve the honor. The role of a wife deserves equal attention. The Bible distinguishes between three main roles. A wife can be a mentor, witness, and an example.
The sacred book never devalues the female intellect, downplays the talents and abilities of women, or discourages the right use of women’s spiritual gifts.
According to the Bible feminine virtue is quite important for being an excellent woman. Moreover, the most significant and influential women were honored not because of their careers, but their strong character.
And besides, the Bible promotes feminine freedom, dignity, and honor. So the women’s role is the Bible is not underestimated as some people may think.

Women’s Role in the Bible by Examples #1: Mary, the Mother of Jesus
The Mother of Jesus Mary is one of the most recognized and admired figures in the Bible. Besides being humble and true to God she was a woman of an incredible strength. She dared to face the unknown. Actually, Mary is a great example of how Christians should behave in various circumstances.
Mary surrendered her life and her reputation and devoted everything to the purposes of God. She was the only one to be with Jesus throughout his entire life. Mary was a touching example from the Bible of total surrender to the will of God.
Women’s Role in the Bible by Examples #2: Sarah
All influential women from the Bible demonstrate faith in God. Sarah was no exception. She was all about the obedience while believing God’s promises.
Without hesitation, she left her comfortable life to start her journey with God. As Abraham’s wife, Sarah was the first Hebrewess—the joint fountainhead of the great Jewish race.
She is the first unquestionably historical woman of the Hebrews. They also consider her their first mother. Therefore, Sarah is one of the most important female figures in the world’s history.
She is treated as the natural source of the Jewish people, through whom all the nations on earth were to be blessed. She was popular for her strong faith as well. Sarah lived by faith and died in faith.
To honor her, Sarah or Sara have always been popular female names among Jews. Besides, according to the Bible Sarah was unusually beautiful.
Women’s Role in the Bible by Examples #3: Esther
The world’s history has saved many female names who went to the bitter end to save the lives of others. Esther from the Bible did the same. She is a symbol of bravery and courage due to which she risked her life to save the lives of her people. She teaches us to use our influence to bring glory to God. This is why she is recognized mostly for her strength, bravery, and dignity.
She was chosen by the Persian King Ahasuerus to be his wife in a contest without knowing that she was a Jew. According to the sacred scriptures “the king’s right-hand man, Haman, came up with a plan to kill the Jews, Esther’s uncle found her and pleaded with her to spare Israel. Even though she was his wife, she knew she was not allowed to approach him without invitation, and if she did, it could end in death. But she believed she was chosen by God to save her own people and agreed to go in front of the king anyway and won his favor and her people were saved. She didn’t let her fear or position stand in her way.“

Actually, there is quite a little information about Abigail. However, there is a lot to learn from this lesser-known heroine from the Bible and lady of faith.
She is described as beautiful but also “intelligent”, “clever” or “of good understanding”. Besides having this beauty and brains, she was also brave.
She married a wealthy man. As a true believer, she used her wisdom and wealth to plead for the safety of her husband’s household. She was brave enough to take a leap of faith when the odds were against her, humble enough to acknowledge her husband’s shortcomings and trusted God’s will enough to let go and let Him.
Women’s Role in the Bible by Examples #5: Deborah
If you do not believe that women can be quite good leaders, you’d better read the story of Deborah. Deborah is especially dear to Israeli people.
She was the prophet and judge of Israel. Her wisdom, courage and compassionate zeal for justice were nothing new to Jews. Accordingly, Deborah played a unique role in Israel’s history.
She served as the only female judge in a lawless period before the country got its first king. It seems that she wouldn’t be able to survive in this male-dominated culture. However, she enlisted the help of a mighty warrior named Barak to defeat the oppressive general Sisera.
Deborah’s wisdom and faith in God inspired the people. Sisera was defeated and, ironically, killed by another woman. Under Deborah’s leadership, Israel enjoyed 40 years of peace.
