The Role of Women in Business and Family
Work-life balance that is so hard to maintain but quite possible to achieve
Perfect mom or a businesswoman! Which one to choose? We, for example, choose both!
And please don’t persuade that it’s impossible to be perfect both in a family and at the same time indispensable in a workplace!
In fact, we not only strongly believe that work-life balance is achievable but we are going to prove this by presenting several success stories about the role of women in business and family who make headlines and have become role models for all of us.
When we see such prominent businesswomen on TV or read their interviews the only thing we say is, “Wow, they have such great jobs, and still manage to spend quality time with their kids and husband”.
So how do they do it? Believe us there’s no special secret. The thing is, in 21st-century successful women are educated, talented, confident, ambitious and career oriented. These qualities certainly help women entrepreneurs initiate, organize and fulfill both household duties and office duties.
Yes, that’s all about you dear women. So feel proud of yourself! Nowadays perfectionist women also put too much pressure on themselves to be the perfect businesswomen, the perfect mother, and the perfect wife.
So except running businesses, managing workload and meeting clients’ needs many businesswomen have other chores and wishes too.
Many women in business also dream of a house that’s completely dust free, they also want to be able to serve up gourmet meals for their family and they also do their best to involve kids into so many after-school activities.
But let’s face it! There aren’t enough hours in the day and energy in your body, to do all of that. So what can you do?
Just stop worrying about little things!
It’s not the end of the world if you don’t manage to help kids with their lessons, doing shopping, or baking your husband’s favorite cookies.
From time to time ordering dinner, hiring a cleaner and engaging a tutor will leave you to work on the important things, the things in your business that you’re passionate about, and of course being the best mother and wife you can be.
Also think carefully, creatively and strategically about how you plan your day to foster your work-life balance
- Use a schedule! Write things down. You don’t have to hold them in your head as there’s enough already going on up there.
- Make sure your to-do list covers everything that you need to accomplish for the week, both at home and at work.
- Set daily alarms before deadlines so you don’t forget about upcoming deadlines.
- Instead of only focusing on business meetings, making calls and sending out important emails also include fun things in your list, such as afternoons at the park, TV shows that you don’t want to miss, candle-light dinners with husband, etc.
- Also don’t be afraid to readjust your daily schedule. Make a few changes here and there to feel more at ease.
In short, prioritize the things that will help you be in harmony both personally and professionally. And remember! You’re already a successful businesswoman and the best woman you can be. So be kind to yourself.
The Role of Women in Business and Family Success Stories #1: Let’s meet Susan Wojcicki, CEO of YouTube
Since February 2014 Susan Wojcicki has been CEO and a “star” of a multi-billion dollar video-sharing site without ever appearing in any viral online videos.
Wojcicki and her husband rented their garage to two young computer scientists: Sergey Brin and Larry Page, who found Google. Back in 1999, Susan became Google’s 16th employee starting as the search firm’s first marketing manager and later headed all marketing and commerce.
Later she advocated for Google’s $1.65 billion acquisition of YouTube in 2006. The odds are after reading the above mentioned you won’t believe that a woman who has worked for Google and now is the CEO of YouTube would find time for starting a family.
To your great surprise, Susan has 5 children. She is often quoted talking about the importance of finding a balance between family and career.
Wojcicki believes being a working mom makes her better at her job, benefits both her and her family.
Your kids get something from your career and your career will get something from your kids.Susan Wojcicki
Despite crazy hours at the workplace, Susan tries to go home at 6 p.m. to be a part of a family meal.
Needing to be home actually helps Wojcicki to be a more effective CEO because it forces her to prioritize and focus on things that have the biggest impact on her company, she noted.
“I want people to realize that it really is OK, that you can have a family. I don’t feel like I’m a perfect mom, and then there are times at work where I feel like maybe I wasn’t perfect here because of constraints on my time,” she said. “But having the sum of both of those things going on in my life makes me a better mom at the end of the day, and I think gives me really important perspectives in the workplace as well.”
Wojcicki has been an advocate for several causes, including the expansion of paid family leave, the plight of Syrian refugees, countering gender discrimination at technology companies, getting girls interested in computer science and prioritizing coding in schools.
The Role of Women in Business and Family Success Stories #2: Victoria Beckham, one of the most celebrated moms in the world
4:00 P.M. At four o’clock, I leave the office and go and pick up the children, take them home, give them their dinner, take them to all their after-school activities—yes, like football and rugby—and start doing homework. I love children’s homework. And then when I put the children to bed, I’ll start working again…Victoria Beckham

Mom to sons Brooklyn, Romeo, Cruz, and daughter Harper, strongly believes that focusing on your career can be a good thing for your kids and for yourself.
“As a working mother, you should never feel guilty; you should feel proud. You’re inspiring your children in the right way, being a strong woman going to work,” she says.
The singer-turned-fashion designer was one of a number of famous women who published letters about their role as a mother on news magazine website Time to mark Mothers’ Day in America.
She wrote: “They are a wonder to me every day. From a teenage son through to a toddler daughter, each moment of every day is filled with different energies, activities, feelings and a lot of comedy.”
The sweetest moments spent with kids and David, shared by Victoria literally melts the 18.5 million Instagram followers’ hearts, plus shows the unending joy of being a successful mom, wife and fashion designer.
Back in March, David shared a black and white photo of mama and her little ones, “Happy mama’s day to another amazing mummy … Someone that has raised these beautiful little ones to be the most precious, special and loved children … A woman that has a drive, passion, intelligence and love for her children what gets any better than that ?”
Simply put, Victoria Beckham presents the image of a hard-working, humble yet ambitious fashion designer of great potential, fashion icon, and yet a caring mom and wife who despite having a successful music career and being a recognized fashion designer, always says her proudest achievements are her four children.
