Older women models have come to prove that beauty is ageless and are breaking stereotypes that you can become a supermodel only when you are young.
True style is timeless and obviously ageless too. This year there were approximately four times as many models over 50 in the Fall 2017 fashion shows as there were for Spring 2016.
Numerous brands have contributed to making the runways more age-friendly during these years. It’s hard to believe that the women presented down below are over a half-century old. But they are the ones that are breaking stereotypes that women are beautiful only when they are young and fresh.
But like a fine wine, these ladies have managed to stay sexy, proving that age is just a number. These ladies look as good and sexy now as they did when they were first upcoming stars several decades ago. These amazing women have managed to challenge logic and nature to remain beautiful and attractive well into their 50s.
If you are looking for some inspiration to see that age is just a number here is our list of older women models who are breaking stereotypes with their independence and self-confidence.
Older women models #1 | Carmen Dell’Orefice
I was the Kate Moss of my day, atypical of what the public wanted, which was Brigitte Bardot. I was always tall, skinny and angular. But now, society has bought 55 years of my marketing ‘Carmen,’ and I’m considered beautiful. I hope that empowers older women.
We should start our list of amazing older women models with Carmen Dell’Orefice. Modeling career of American actress and supermodel Carmen Dell’Orefice has a history of nearly 70 years.

Even though she retired from the modeling industry in her late 20s, she made a triumphal comeback in the ‘70s. Dell’Orefice continues to be featured in popular fashion magazines and on the runway to this day.
Recently she revealed that actually in the past 25 years she has worked more than ever before. Dell’Orefice modeled for Rolex and other luxurious brands and is featured in famous advertising campaigns appearing in Vogue, W magazine, and Harper’s Bazaar.
If you lack some inspiration, here is a quote from her that will motivate you throughout your day, “We have to program the mind of the public that age is not ugly. Age is just age. Wake up, American children, and stop listening to other people’s voices. Know yourself, be true to yourself and make a contribution. It took me half my life to know myself. I listened to other people’s opinions and took them as gospel.”
Older women models #2 | Maye Musk
I’m 68 now, and I’m just starting my career. It’s such a big surprise. When I was 15, I was told that at 18 I’d be done.

Similarly to Carmen Dell’Orefice, Maye has been a model since she was a 15-year-old girl. She grew up in South Africa. Now, this amazing woman is 69. She appeared nude on the cover of Time magazine in 2010.
Also, in 2011 she appeared nude on the cover of New York magazine with a fake pregnant belly. Furthermore, she graced the cover of Elle Canada in 2012 and starred in advertisement campaigns of Target and Virgin America.
In 2016, she managed to catch the eye of IMG and joined the list of this mega-agency, whose models include Christie Brinkley, Carolyn Murphy, Gigi Hadid and many others. In 2017, she became CoverGirl’s oldest spokesmodel that was reported as “history-making process”.

That was the time when she decided not to work in fashion again. But now at the age of 78 Veruschka still appears on catwalks and in magazines.
